For one, anyone who happens to know my name will be able to look up my profile and see who my girlfriend is, where I work, what I like... etc, which I find to be very intrusive. Second, companies often check your myspace and facebook now as part of the screening process and I would prefer people to not be able to do so to me should the situation arise. Third, I have no real want or desire to have fake internet friends and validate the egos of idiots as well as allow every moron I've cut out of my life to be able to find me and see what I'm up to.
