In general I regard all attention whores in the media as little more than vacuous overflowing propaganda receptacles, leaving their refuse on the ground as more and more useless information piles on top of and slips off. These new media types, in my opinion, they all want attention, they want people big and small talking about them, spreading news of artificial and manufactured (IE: made-up) ‘controversy’ that really exists only because they know it’s a buzzword and gets people’s attention. People like Ann Coulter, or Mike Moore. They only want to capitalize and profit by hijacking people’s fears and pretenses and preaching to the already converted for book deals and a quick few bucks before dropping off the media radar like a shooting star, laughing their way to the bank. They claim to speak for us, they don’t. They speak for their corporate backers and their wallets and will say anything, no matter how stupid or crazy it is, to get that spotlight shined upon them for a few more precious seconds.
So, in general, my policy is to not waste effort saying my opinion of their opinions because in the grand scheme of things people like that do not matter, they come and go or persist only in the most slanted ideological soapboxes that will allow them to spill more of their garbage to a gradually diminishing audience. Essentially you’re arguing with a puppet, a loose configuration of rhetoric given corporal form. A shambling horrible media zombie, relentlessly craving ratings. They want to offend you, and grab your attention, so I think it’s a good idea to ignore them and I wish more people would realize this and do the same. Of course, there are exceptions for extra persistent and or insidious ones, and for that I offer these few choice words towards the individual that compelled me to write this article. Mr. Glenn Beck.
Now, Beck is known for saying racist, ignorant, and retarded political statements pretty much on a daily basis. He’s also known for holding huge corporate-sponsored and funded rallies to further establish himself as the center of a ‘movement’ that has been artificially constructed to feed Fox New’s narrative of widespread political dissent towards the evil Demoncrats and their obvious facio-socialist agenda to take over our lives. Hell, he even came close to offending me when he pretended to cry and be afraid for America, because it was such an obvious act and people still bought it. This is not what managed to actually offend me, as, like I said, I’m fairly numb and indifferent to obvious liars only out to make a quick buck. What got me was a simple statement, stated rather emphatically:
Two plus two equals four!
To provide context, what Mr. Beck is referring to is a plot point in George Orwell’s 1984. The party in 1984 said to Winston near the end of the novel as he’s being tortured, that they control facts and information so that they could control thought. They told him that two plus two equals four but it could also equal five. They tortured and broke him till he admitted he actually saw it equal five and believed it. Orwell said that the goal of his writing was to attack the right without flattering the left. Doubtlessly, he would probably get a wry smirk seeing someone invoke the nightmarish dystopia he dreamed of as a warning against the rise of pro-communist sentiment in Europe and England and apply it to left-wingers today. Especially someone so utterly full of it, as Glenn Beck, because if it isn’t obvious to his followers it certainly is to me and anyone else who’s familiar in dealing with liars, everything this man says is designed to tap into his audiences ignorance and fear. Like a televangelist.
Invoking Orwell to apply the Party’s method of torture, propaganda, media manipulation. Wars without end to quell dissent at home, and extreme class warfare to the point where really only the filthy rich or extremely poor existed to democrats is not only a gross distortion of reality, but it also ignores that all those things Orwell warned us about we experienced a little dose of when President Bush was in office. Where was Glenn Beck when we had the Patriot Act actually taking our rights? Or when we started wars as a distraction because Bush’s approval ratings took a nose dive? What about the use of water boarding? Or the fact that all of this was being paid for when there was a tax cut enacted that created a massive deficit? I’ll tell you where he was, much like all the people at Newscorp, he was telling us all how great everything was, but now… we’re living in a socialist nightmare? It took Mr. Beck three chalkboards worth of arrows and nonsense to show how ‘liberal media’ companies ‘might’ have donated to Barrack Obama, and even then the logic was shaky at best. But hey, begging the question is the same as proving things I suppose when you’re already predisposed to hate someone.
Typical distraction tactics from the truth here, and it’s a hard truth for those who lean right, but the republican party has gone completely insane and off-track to the point where they have lied to us so much, they have forgotten what the truth is. They’ve spewed so much hate and venom that they can’t even agree with reasonable things because they would look bad to the people they’ve whipped into a frenzy of fear and anger. They’ve become slaves to their own propaganda, forced to keep feeding it just to keep their heads above water. They won’t even turn people like Beck off or try to make him seem crazy or not with them, because it’s gotten to the point where they can’t for fear of losing even more votes next cycle.
It’s not hard to even argue like this man, hell anyone can do it, he’s an example. Go up to one of your friends and make a random wild claim about them, the less sense it makes the better. Example:
Insert friend name here, isn’t it true you rape babies and then use their spinal fluid as invisible ink in Satanic rituals you preform in an attempt to bring Stalin’s ghost back to life to destroy America?
Now this accomplishes two things, first it’s so absurd the person is not going to know how to react which makes them look guilty, secondly it forces observers to ask themselves the same question so they already start to think it could be true. Granted my example is ridiculous but you get the point. If they say yes sarcastically you can accusingly say, ‘he admits it!’ If they ignore it you can say ‘why can’t you answer the question, is it because it’s true?’ If they deny it you can simply say, ‘well I’m just asking questions no need to get so defensive!’ You can do this for any series of wild unsubstantiated nonsense claims till they give up in frustration.
Also, the idea of this man holding an honor rally is laughable in the extreme, and in doing so his intentions become all the more obvious. He said he’s not holding it to make any money for himself, but then all the money gets funneled into his non-profit organization he runs (for tax evasion purposes no doubt). Everything he does is for money.
Glenn Beck’s, with his stupid little chalkboard and game of ‘follow the money trail’ he plays every night to prove theirs a massive liberal conspiracy to destroy all things conservative and good is, frankly, bullshit and he knows it. He’s using them to make himself tons of money, he doesn’t have to even prove anything he says at this point, they’ve managed to dumb down tea party goers and right-wingers to the point where they actually believe this nonsense no matter how absurd it is. Like claiming the president is restarting Hilter’s final solution to create a master race, or that he’s a racist that harbors a deep-seeded hatred of us honkeys. The saddest thing of all in this is that he has employment. Someone actually allows this guy on the air to say these lies because it’s profitable for them to do so, otherwise they simply do not have a motive. Perhaps the question we should be asking is why lying and making up whatever bullshit conspiracy theories you want without a lick of proof is profitable to begin with.
He’s not even a newsperson, he just lies on camera for money and attention, Glenn Beck isn’t a disgusting person because he’s an idiot ( I doubt he doesn’t know exactly what he’s doing), or a liar (but only because it’s so obvious); it’s simply because at the end of the day he’s nothing more than a con artist. A hollow man who is willing to sell his sense of integrity and honesty to make a quick buck and further impede anyone’s attempts at having a reasonable political dialogue. For anyone who actually believes in this man or his nonsense, you may want to consider the fact that his appeals to your patriotism and fears seem to have grossly benefited him (and only him) financially and only benefits his parent corporation politically. Just a thought.
Note: No pictures are included because I don’t want to have to look at his smug face.
